NAIDOC Week 2022: Vital Chemical’s River Journey

While we grow as a company, Vital Chemical is committed to creating and promoting opportunities for Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander peoples. During NAIDOC Week, from 3 to 10 July 2022, Bundjalung artist Aaron Broderick collaborated with Vital Chemical to create an art piece to symbolise this promise.

The art, titled “Our River Journey”, conveys Vital Chemical’s pledge to foster cultural awareness and respect.

The piece represents the company’s 45 years of owning and operating a family-run business from an Indigenous perspective.

Depicted in Mr Broderick’s artwork is the Brisbane River, alongside which we’ve run our business from our headquarters in Goodna, manufacturing and distributing sustainable solutions for projects in both the public and private sectors across the world.

The painting also represents pathways extending from our manufacturing facility, depicting journeys we will take in the future and those we’ve travelled in the past. Background dot formations stand for our people, and the role every Vital Chemical employee plays in the history of our company.

The theme of the artwork depicts our relationships with our partners and greater industry. We’re committed to sustainable practices for the environment and for the culture of the people we work with.

We thank Mr Broderick for creating this beautiful representation of our connection to the Yuggera land on which we operate.

Vital Chemical acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we work and live. We pay our respects to their Elders both past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Find out more at www.naidoc.org.au.
